Savage's name calling and ad hominem attacks

"Those who seek Understanding and the gifts she bestows we call the Sons of Heaven. Those who pass all understanding shall be burned upon the Lathe of Heaven."

-Confucius

This is in response to Ellis Washington's commentary "Why Savage's ad hominem attacks?" In all fairness to Mr. Washington, I find most of his commentaries to be provocative and insightful. However, his recent defense of Michael Savage leaves a lot to be desired. His justification of Savage's ad hominem attacks directed at other radio talk show hosts is weak at best. He cites one reader who claims Savage has the right to attack them, and call them names because they're bought and paid for. Apparently the source of this comment doesn't listen enough to the other talk shows to know Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, and others have come out and criticized Republicans on several occasions for what they have done, and for what they are not doing. I listen to them all, including Savage, on a daily basis. None of them are bought and paid for by the Republican party.

There is a consensus among talk show hosts that the Republican party needs to grow a spine, and serve the will of the people (as they once started out to do back in the 1990's) instead of serving themselves. Not one of the other talk show hosts has ever attacked Michael Savage verbally the way he has attacked them. I find Savage's attacks unwarranted, de constructive, indefensible, egotistical, and self serving. The big question to ask here is why does he feel the need to attack his talk show brethren? Is it his ego? Is it for ratings? Or does he really want to be the leader of the pack that badly? Perhaps we should seriously start questioning Savage's motives.

Savage is not head and shoulders above anyone. I consider him an equal, and a part of the whole. Instead of trying to take over the spot as top dog, perhaps Savage should learn some humility and become a team player. Real leaders know and understand humility. Right now, with our country in as much trouble as it has ever been in, we need team players, and not a bunch of egotistical tin horns who want to become leaders.

While it concerns me that Savage has his troubles with the British home secretary, it is nothing more than whining and crying on Savage's part to expect those he has denigrated, castigated, lampooned, and bullied in the past to come running to his defense. Many of us know what it's like to watch the neighborhood bully get exactly what he deserves, and Michael Savage's unique circumstance is no exception. The one thing Michael Savage forgot before he got himself in hot water with the British home secretary is the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

As I have stated, no one calls Michael Savage names, nor do they attack him in the manner that he attacks them. They leave him alone because they are above the fray. They know they have bigger fish to fry. However, if Michael Savage would like to be attacked, and called a name to equalize the playing field, he should be called The Leech. Certainly he has leeched off of the hard work of other radio talk show hosts for a free ride, and has shown very little gratitude for it. The Leech also works for a corporation known as TRN (Talk Radio Network). In that sense, Savage is bought and paid for too. That makes Savage a typical puss bag who's been bought and paid for, in his own judgment of others. A corporation is a corporation, no matter what size it is.

The lesson The Leech should have learned from his latest debacle with the British home secretary was simply this: If you want support from others, then show them support. Don't be like a stray dog who bites the hand that feeds it. Don't be like the neighborhood bully then expect your victims to come running to your aid when you get yourself in trouble. That just isn't logical.
